About LaDuke Junction

The name “LaDuke Junction” came from two influences: The song “Tuxedo Junction” by Manhattan Transfer, and the Schoolhouse Rock song “Conjunction Junction.”

I love jazz and Manhattan Transfer in particular, especially when they go back to volcaleze and mainstream jazz roots.

Schoolhouse Rock rocks! I’ve always loved language and writing, but did not apply myself to the study of either as much I now wish I had.

LaDuke Junction originally served only as a central mail box for members of the LaDuke Family and did not accept postings or blog entries. However, I recently decided to chronicle my job search musings and open them up to comment. For the immediate future, I hope to use this forum as:

  • An encouragement to others who are looking for work
  • A place where practical advice can be shared among us
  • An opportunity to keep my writing skills sharpened

The word “junction,” as Manhattan Transfer put it, is a place “where people go to dance the night away….” It is my hope that some people will find their way here to be encouraged, share information, and discuss language, writing or whatever topic is on the table. Dancing is allowed so long as you are not web-casting it. ;-)
